QUEENSLAND WELCOMES BACK ANIMATION SUMMIT IN 2017

Brisbane will once again serve as an international screen hub for a gathering of animation producers, distributors, and broadcasters when the Asian Animation Summit returns to Queensland in 2017 for its second consecutive year with support from Screen Queensland.

The Asian Animation Summit, to be held from 29 November to 1 December, will attract attendees from across the Asia-Pacific to present new projects and explore new market models.

Owned and produced by Kidscreen, the Summit facilitates the co-production of Asian-region animation projects for television, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services and the internet.

The 2017 event will see more than 20 projects from Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific presented to the international marketplace for the first time.

The Asian Animation Summit attracts producers of animation who are interested in co-producing projects with partners in the Asia-Pacific as well as broadcasters, distributors and investors from the region and beyond.

The return to Brisbane follows the success of last year’s event, which drew presence from Netflix Kids and YouTube Kids, and screened standouts like Brisbane-based Ludo Studio’s Bluey and Tido from Malaysia’s The Commonis.

The Summit is expected to attract up to 250 animation professionals to Brisbane. Supported by Screen Queensland and Brisbane Marketing, the Asian Animation Summit takes place from 29 November to 1 December 2017.
