About the Role

The Marketing & Digital Content Specialist (MDCS) is responsible for developing, implementing and tracking marketing and content programs that drive awareness of Australia as a leading screen production destination. This includes the promotion of Australian creatives, crew and screen businesses (Ausfilm Members) that support the Australian screen industry’s continuing excellence and growth. This role also contributes to the increase of brand awareness of Ausfilm and its member companies to the global entertainment industry.

This position works within the marketing team to ideate and develop content for Ausfilm’s annual marketing campaigns and communication activities that aim to educate and effectively engage with Ausfilm’s client, membership and government stakeholder audience.


Marketing & Promotions

  • Working with the Director of Marketing to develop, implement and track creative campaigns that engage with Ausfilm’s stakeholders including but not limited to: annual Ausfilm Member Retention Campaign; annual Australians at the Oscars Campaign; annual Make it in Australia Campaign; annual VFX or Post it in Australia Campaigns; annual Partner with Australia Campaign and the Annual Ausfilm Week Campaign.
  • Manage the production of campaign/promotional materials including campaign brief writing; project management; planning timelines in Asana (project management tool); liaison with suppliers, staff, members and stakeholders; distribution of campaigns either digitally or physically.
  • Support for domestic and international business events: production of signage; sourcing merchandise for client gift bags; powerpoint presentations; devise brochure content; update factsheets and design seminar programs; plus preparation of international freight.

Content Creation & Communications

  • Develop and deliver a robust communication content schedule in partnership with the DMIP and Ausfilm team including but not limited to: client, government and member eCommunications and digital newsletters/blog posts.
  • Write, proof and edit creative and technical content across different mediums. Source content from the screen government agencies and private industry members and devise supplementary content ideas for print, digital, social and video to promote Australia’s capabilities globally. Ensure all content is always up-to-date and Search Engine optimised.
  • Work with the DMIP and Digital Content Agency to brief in projects, manage budgets, and project management, track key metrics to ensure an optimal user experience is delivered and adjust when engagement is not aligning with marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with other teams (Policy, LA, Members) to develop and monitor strategic content marketing initiatives: distribution of Ausfilm Research reports for Government, Incentive brochures or relevant campaigns for clients.
  • Implement Linked In, Google and trade advertising campaigns as required.
  • Help oversee and produce annual marketing materials such as the Ausfilm Magazine, write the project brief and project manage the production of an 80+ page high-quality print magazine, collate content for the Member Directory (print and online); proof/sub-edit articles; source images and member content; supply materials to the designer and printer; audit material quantities required for global markets; manage timelines, devise distribution plan domestically and globally.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Maintain customer relationship management system (Sugar CRM) and online marketing files.
  • Regularly track and report on digital marketing and communications activity and data for the Ausfilm Board, members and federal government and pivot when required to ensure Ausfilm’s content continuously engages with clients.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Five+ years’ experience with a proven understanding of the digital and marketing environment with tertiary qualification in a relevant field advantageous.
  2. Exceptional written communication skills and a keen eye for grammar and proofing content.
  3. Demonstrated experience in social media platforms (Agora Pulse), implementing digital strategies and understanding analytics to adjust future campaigns based on reader engagement and to drive strategic decision making.
  4. High proficiency in graphic design and multimedia software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Canva for manipulation of images, eheaders, creation of invitations, slide decks, documents and brochures.
  5. Demonstrated experience in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software; web content management system software (WordPress), and cloud based electronic direct mail out software (Campaign Monitor, Mail Chimp etc). 
  6. Exceptional IT skills: advanced experience in Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  7. Reliable worker, who takes initiative, likes working independently but also a collaborative team player is a must.
