G’Day USA is Australia’s premier public, economic and cultural diplomacy program in the United States. It brings together leaders from government, business, the creative industries and academia to deepen the Australia-US relationship and showcase Australia’s creative, innovative economy and society to the United States.

Over the past 15 years, G’Day USA has spanned innovation, public policy and defence cooperation, tourism, food and wine promotion, and collaboration across our screen, music, education and sports sectors, G’Day USA cultivates and celebrates the strong ties between Australia and the United States of America.

G’Day USA is produced by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Tourism Australia, Austrade and Qantas Airways, with the support of a diverse and growing number of Australian and American corporate sector partners, academic institutions and not-for-profit organisations.

 

G’DAY USA GALA
Ausfilm supported and attended this year’s 16th annual black-tie G’Day USA Gala held on the 26th January 2019 celebrating high-profile Australians who were honoured for their contribution in strengthening our long-standing US-Australian business and cultural partnerships.

Legendary Australian singer Helen Reddy was honoured with a G’Day USA Lifetime Achievement award. Best known for her signature hit I Am Woman, Reddy became a global pop icon and pioneer of the women’s movement.

Acclaimed Australian actor Liam Hemsworth was honoured with a G’Day USA Excellence in Film award in recognition of outstanding performances in films including The Hunger Games and Independence Day: Resurgence.

Production Designer Deborah Riley was honoured with a G’Day USA Outstanding Achievement in Film and Television award. The four-time Emmy Award winner is a recognized industry leader, whose work in set design and art direction has helped bring the worlds of The MatrixMoulin Rouge and Game of Thrones to life.

 

G’DAY USA AUSTRALIAN FILM INDUSTRY SHOWCASE
Ausfilm, in partnership with CAA, Screen Australia and Adelaide Studios, G’Day USA hosted a special advance screening of I Am Mother showcasing the innovative and creative work of the Australian film industry. This invite-only event celebrated Australia’s film and television community, government screen incentives and the talent in front of and behind the camera in a Q&A with the film’s producer Tim White, actress Clara Rugaard (Still Star Crossed) Adelaide Post & VFX studio, Kojo’s Marty Pepper and NSW VFX Studio Fin’s, Chris Spry. The 200+ attendees included studio executives, film buyers, producers and directors and a post-screening reception.
