Ausfilm welcomes this week’s announcement by the Australian Government and NSW State Government that Universal Filmed Entertainment Group’s, live-action feature film The Fall Guy will film in Sydney this year.

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon. Paul Fletcher MP, and New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Arts and Regional Youth, the Hon. Ben Franklin announced on the 17th May support for the live-action feature film, through the Federal Location Incentive program and the State Government’s Made in NSW fund.

The film, is based on The Fall Guy television series, which was created by Glen A. Larson and starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stunt man who, to make ends meet, has a side hustle as a bounty hunter. The production will showcase Sydney’s diverse landscapes and facilities to international audiences.

“We are pleased to welcome The Fall Guy down under with AU$30 million in support from our highly successful Location Incentive, with the production to employ over 1,000 Australian cast and crew, and more than 3,015 Australian extras.”

Ausfilm CEO, Kate Marks welcomes the announcement saying, “Ausfilm and its membership of our 52 screen service companies celebrate this announcement and appreciate the ongoing support from the Australian Government and State Government, in helping our industry to attract international film and TV productions to Australia.”

Ms Marks says it cannot be underestimated the benefits productions of this size bring to the country, “not only by driving tourism visitation thanks to the showcasing of Australia’s diverse locations on all sized screens, but also through the investment that productions of this scale deliver to Australia’s sound stages, our Australian-owned post, sound, music and VFX facilities, unit management companies, legal services, extras, cast and crew.”

Marks continues “We thank NBCUniversal for choosing Australia yet again as a production destination following Ticket to Paradise’s Queensland shoot and multiple television projects from Universal Television, Universal Content Productions and Universal Studio Group in both Queensland and Victoria.”

NSW Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said, “New South Wales has the most talented film experts in the country for these productions, and I am so proud we have secured The Fall Guy through our AU$175 million Made in NSW fund and in partnership with the Morrison Government, which will boost our local economy by creating jobs and supporting local businesses.”
