Netflix survival thriller Apex became one of the year’s biggest films, attracting a record-breaking 100 million views in under a month. In the latest Ausfilm Insider, Director Baltasar Kormákur, Executive Producer Ray Angelic and Producer David Ready reveal why Australia was the perfect home for the production.

Inspired by Australia’s dramatic landscapes, Kormákur made the country’s unique scenery an integral part of the story, combining spectacular locations across New South Wales with the large-scale sets, stunt stages and water work at Disney Studios Australia.

Supported by the Australian Government and Screen NSW, with additional post and VFX support from Screen Queensland and the South Australian Film Corporation, Apex brought together a host of Ausfilm members, showcasing how Australia’s locations, facilities, talent and filmmaking environment continue to attract major international productions.
