CATE BLANCHETT CO-CREATED STATELESS COMMENCES PRODUCTION IN ADELAIDE

Powerful new six-part drama series Stateless commences production in South Australia next week.

The South Australian Film Corporation, ABC TV and Screen Australia joined forces with Matchbox Pictures and Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton’s Dirty Films, to commission and finance Stateless, an urgent and compelling drama series about four people caught up in an immigration system that profoundly affects all their lives.

Showrunner Elise McCredie said: “I am so delighted to have the support of the South Australian Film Corporation to make this ground-breaking show. The facilities here in Adelaide are world class and the team here have made us feel so welcome and creatively supported. The potential to shoot in both the outback and a modern city make South Australia the ideal location for shooting.”

The multi award-winning cast started arriving in Adelaide this week; they are Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaids Tale, Dexter), Jai Courtney (Storm Boy, Suicide Squad), Asher Keddie (The Cry, Offspring), Fayssal Bazzi (Peter Rabbit, Top of the Lake), Dominic West (The Wire, The Affair) and Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, Carol).

Written by Elise McCredie (Sunshine) and Belinda Chayko (Secret City, Safe Harbour), the series will be directed by Emma Freeman (Glitch, Tidelands) and Jocelyn Moorhouse (Wanted Season 3, The Dressmaker) and shot by Bonnie Elliot (Spear, The Hunting).

Producers are Sheila Jayadev (Ali’s Wedding) and Paul Ranford (Secret City, Storm Boy), with Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton (Carol) along with Tony Ayres (Glitch, Wanted Season 3) as Executive Producers. Elise McCredie is Showrunner.

Stateless is distributed worldwide by NBCUniversal.
