SIR RIDLEY SCOTT SAYS “SYDNEY HAS BEEN SPECTACULAR”

Sydney city and surrounding locations offer diverse locations, world-class studio facilities, experienced crews and the creative and technical talent to provide you the comfort necessary to do your best work.

Sydney is the capital of New South Wales. Nearly 60% of all Australians employed in the screen production industry are based in NSW and more than half of all Australian production and post-production businesses are located in NSW. Sydney boasts a highly experienced creative workforce, including Oscar-nominated cast and crew and the most extensive screen infrastructure in Australia.

I had never shot here before…and I have to say Sydney has been spectacular. Fox Studios are very efficient. What I would call the technical talent, the artisan and carpentry, the plasterwork, everything has been spectacular.”

Only minutes from the city centre, Fox Studios Australia – the largest integrated production facility in the southern hemisphere – has recently hosted several major international productions: Alien: Covenant, directed by Sir Ridley Scott which is due for worldwide release in May 2017, the Academy Award winning Hacksaw Ridge, directed by Mel Gibson, Legendary Entertainment’s Pacific Rim: Uprising, Columbia Pictures’ Peter Rabbit and big budget Chinese productions Bleeding Steel and Chosen.

What is wonderful…is that I live less than eight minutes drive from the studios. It takes at least an hour by car to get to any London studio.” Sir Ridley Scott – Director, Alien: Covenant

The facilities at the studios include nine sound stages, ranging from 208 – 4,000 sqm / 2,236 – 42,000 sqft, production support facilities featuring production offices, construction, art and costume workshops and backlot areas, along with over 70 screen production support businesses based on the lot including production services, equipment hire and full post production support. Learn more about the studios

The NSW Government is committed to maintaining the state as the most attractive destination in Australia for major screen projects. It offers incentives to eligible “footloose” productions to attract them to Sydney and regional NSW, through its Made in NSW fund. The attraction program is discretionary and incentives are provided in the form of rebates and determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account demonstrable benefits including job creation, NSW production expenditure, skills development for emerging and established practitioners and technology transfer. These incentives can be accessed on top of the Australian Federal Government’s Location Offset and the Post/Digital/Visual Effects Offset and Producer Offset.
