THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS ACQUIRED BY THE BBC AND SUNDANCE NOW

The Secrets She Keeps, a six-part domestic noir adaptation series filmed in Sydney, stars Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey), Jessica de Gouw (The Crown, The Hunting), Michael Dorman (Daybreakers, The Invisible Man) and Ryan Corr (Holding the Man, Hacksaw Ridge, Bloom).

Acquired by the BBC and AMC Networks’ US streaming service Sundance Now, among several other major international territories. DCD Rights negotiated the deals with Sundance Now to air the show from July 16, 2020.

Loosely based on true events, the psychological thriller follows two heavily pregnant women who have a chance encounter in a Sydney supermarket. Agatha (Laura Carmichael), an employee at the supermarket develops an unhealthy interest in mummy blogger and influencer Meghan (Jessica De Gouw) who appears to have a glamorous and affluent life and is married to television sports reporter Jack (Dorman). A friendship quickly develops but all is not as it seems.

A series adaptation by Sarah Walker and Jono Gavin from Michael Robotham’s international best-selling novel, is a fascinating female-focused series of intrigue, perception and disguise. From the pages of London to the screen location of the Blue Mountains, the script is just as gripping. The first four episodes are directed by Catherine Millar and Jennifer Leacey directs the final two episodes, rounding out the series.

The Secrets She Keeps was commissioned by Australia’s Network 10 and aired April/May 2020. It was one of the top two programs on 10 Play (10’s digital channel) and among the top 10 most watched shows on any Australian network’s BVOD/catchup platform.

The series was produced by Lingo Pictures and co-funded by Screen Australia and Screen NSW.

Ausfilm members Fox Studios provided production offices, Cutting Edge was responsible for post-production, and Showfilm provided travel services and accommodation.
