THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER COMMENCES FILMING IN SYDNEY



A moving Welcome to Country ceremony from the Gamay dancers of the Aboriginal Gadigal and Bidiagal clans and a performance and karakia by Maori dancers from Te Aranganui, signalled the commencement of filming of Thor: Love and Thunder in Sydney, Australia, this month.

Director Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth attended the ceremony at Fox Studios Australia and shared their pictures on Instagram.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will star a blockbuster cast including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Matt Damon and Christian Bale.

The production received financial support from the Australian Federal Government through the Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon. Paul Fletcher and from Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund.

The production is operating under strict COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of cast, crew and wider community.

Ausfilm Members: Contrarian Group provided specialist tax and incentives advice and facilitation and Industrial Light & Magic is providing virtual production and real-time visual effects services, utilising ILM StageCraft and operated by a team based out of the company’s Sydney studio.
