Screen Territory is an agency of the Northern Territory Government responsible for supporting, developing and promoting the screen industry in the Northern Territory so as to promote the Northern Territory’s cultural identity, encourage employment in all aspects of screen production, encourage investment in the industry, enhance the industry’s export potential, encourage innovation and enhance quality in the industry.

Screen Territory aims to provide leadership and assistance to develop and grow the local industry and increase the amount of screen production taking place in the Northern Territory. Screen Territory aims to be the partner of choice with stakeholders in the Northern Territory to enable a thriving and unique Northern Territory screen industry. We do this through advice, funding the development and production of screen content, supporting industry placements and industry events and partnership activities.

Through its funding programs and expertise Screen Territory:

  • Supports the screen production sector to make quality projects that create jobs and grow stable businesses in the Territory.
  • Provides advice and information to improve capability in the sector and enable industry practitioners to participate in the global industry.
  • Collaborates with industry to create opportunities.
  • Facilitates all aspects of filming in Territory to make it attractive for screen production.

Production Finance

Screen Territory will contribute to production finance of screen projects in order to build the capacity of the Territory screen industry as well as raise the profile of the Territory and Territory storytelling. Incentives are determined on the economic and cultural benefits a production will bring to the Territory including spend, jobs, technical and infrastructure legacies.

Eligibility

Eligibility is considered on a case by case basis taking into account the engagement of resident Northern Territory screen practitioners, and/or the creation of infrastructure and supplementary employment in the Territory.
